Feral Tank Kara -> Gruul’s ?s

Yes, your health is relatively low, but you don’t really have the dodge or defense (15-20ish extra rating?)to trade into enough stam to equal it out.
You’d be ok tanking Blindeye, he doesn’t hit too hard and he’s usually the first dps target anyway. But you wouldn’t want to MT Maulgar, he crushes for about 6k I believe, roughly half your health. Two of those and you’re flat.
I’d go for about 14-15k health, 29k armor, and 30 dodge before you go for Gruul. His Hurtful Strike would be hitting you for about a half to a third of your current hp with 0 growths, and they stack up pretty quick.
On a side-note, S2 is excellent for tanking, and you can get it as an immediate filler while you wait on Kara badges.
That seem right? I haven’t been feral in forever.-This is my Druid, there are many like him, but this one is mine. The guild I’m in has Kara more or less on farm and is pushing hard to develop the roster for Gruul’s. Since Gruul’s is more or less the 25-man extension of T4 content, I’m thinking that the gear/stat requirements would be relatively similar. Currently in self-buffed bear form, I have 13.5k health, 26.8k armor, 29 dodge, and 423 defense. I can possibly do a bit of re-gemming and up my health at the expense of a bit of dodge and defense, but other than that, there’s very little from the already sparse feral tanking upgrades I could get out of Kara (Moroes trinket, T4 head, upgraded rep ring). I’m not counting badge gear upgrades because most of them would be 3+ weeks away if all I did was run Karazhan.
I’d offer an armory link but I hardly ever log out in bear form which means all you’d likely see is my hodge-podge of caster gear.
So based on those stats, do I still have some tweaking to do, or might I be adequately geared to get my foot in the door for Gruul’s?-In Soviet Eorzea, Beehive Chips sell YOU!!

elixirs?

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

I always use Elixir of Major Agility, regardless of if I’m in kitty or Bear. So I second what Gryph said.
As far as guardian elixir, either Fort or Armor depending on your mitigation/buff -Galenmoon – 80 Feral Drood
Gavinitis – 80 Shammy
“OH SHlT SON ArexConsumables (As listed in (Elitist Jerks) Feral Druid Megathread By Dukes)
Quote:[Warp Burger] and [Grilled Mudfish] are the best foods. [Spicy Crawdad] or equivalent is also good, along with [Talbuk Steak] or equivalent.
[Elixir of Major Agility] is my recommended battle elixir, but [Elixir of Mastery] is also a good choice.
[Elixir of Major Fortitude] is a good guardian elixir; alternatively [Elixir of Ironskin] is a good choice if you want to get a bit more resilience for crit immunity.
[Flask of Fortification] is the best flask choice, however [Flask of Relentless Assault] is also good dependent on what role you’re taking in the overall raid/fight.
[Flask of Chromatic Wonder] is also a reasonable DPS flask if you’re going to be tanking at some point during the time. It’s a good mixed use flask and is worth using in a lot of situations.
Since 2.3 it has been possible to instantly shift (using /cancelform with macros) to use potions during combat, heavily reducing the chance of being hit while switching to take a potion. The only real survival potions are Protection potions and [Major Healing Potion]‘s.
Personally, I’ve always used Elixir of Major Agility for my battle.

Cat dps points mod for WotLK?

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Catpoints is an addon based off of Toskk’s cat DPS calculator. It adds a value to item mouseovers which shows the dps of equipping it. Unfortunately it hasn’t been updated in 2 months on the source I use to get it (Curse addon updater) and I can’t seem to track down an official site. Does anyone know if there’s a version out for how things should currently be weighted, or another addon that does the same thing?
I’ve had Pawn suggested, but what I really liked about Catdps was that it automatically adjusted to my current stats, compensating for what I was losing.-Beohrn — 80 druid
Brandmanen — 80 Hunter

Please pardon the ego, it keeps getting stuck in doorways. I’m working on it.They HoJ before I can shift to bear, or they trinket out of bash and commence 4-shotting bear. :D
I haven’t done much feral, but one trick I’ve learned in boomkin is that you can use shadowmeld to take you out of combat, then restealth right away. So after a Bash you could try a and then pounce again. I’m not sure what the CD on pounce is though. By the time the cyclone is finished(6s) you should have enough energy build up for a pounce and maybe one other move. Also, by the time you’re done with this, you’ll probably have full combo points so you can hope for a luck FB to finish him off.

Havent PvPed w my guy since the patch until last night, and retadins could basically 4-shot me in bear form (275 resil). This is why I haven’t PvPed w him and will probably stick with my frost mage, who pwns retadins.

Unrelated note. They be looking at Swipe.
Quote:We are going to take another look at Swipe. Since we are trying to fix some problems where druids are too good at tanking it seems reasonable to also look at cases where they struggle.
Please don’t follow this up a dozen threads that say “My class needs compensation for nerfs too!” We generally don’t offer compensation for nerfs since they are supposed to be nerfs. But in this case we are trying to realize our goal of having 4 viable MT classes and druid AE threat generation is )
The main point in the discussion is to delink Swipe from requiring a target.
Which would be awesome.-Day light savings is for fools.
Here’s a link about the new skill. click me
Gonna read up and follow up soonish.
edit —
Well the blog by Felhoof seems to be the most concise listing of information I can find as of now.
Seems the skill is fairly buggy and not quite polished yet. It has high latency issues and doesn’t always proc when it should. It does not proc off of DoT crits or mitigate magic damage.
Also there have been calls to slightly tweak it to make it more bear like as the shield isn’t very bear. Either making it a bear gets bigger thing or a Savage Attack. Same basic idea just different implementations that are more bear flavored. Which I fully support.
Any other news will be much appreciated.

Serious boomkin nerf or what?

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

It just prevents WiseEclipse’s functionality. Eclipse lasts 15 seconds, so you don’t have any chance of switching from lunar to solar until the buff has entirely expired. Whether that means you should stop casting when you aren’t going to finish before eclipse expires or simply continue anyway and proc the next one after remains to be seen, I – FFXI
Ranawaran – WoWI was reading up a bit on 3.3 at mmo-champion and I noticed this:
Quote:Tier 8 Sets
Item – Druid T8 Balance 2P Bonus – Increases the bonus granted by Eclipse for Starfire and Wrath by 7. (Down from 15)
and
Quote:Druid
Eclipse: This effect will not activate again within 15 seconds of either type of Eclipse effect firing, in addition to the existing 30-second cooldown for each type of Eclipse.
The first one I kinda was expecting for some time now. Almost every boomkin out there with the slightest idea of what they’re doing is wearing 2T8/2T9 (except if you have access to ileve 258 T9 that is), because the 2T8 bonus is so good. I’m assuming they want to make sure we actually ditch T8 at some point. Seeing that we’re going to upgrade to T10 anyways, I can live with that nerf.
The second one is a bit uncalled for I think. Sure, we proc Eclipses back to back, but that doesn’t make us too powerful, or does it?
Opinions please!
edit: nevermind… I have to L2R. It says “either type of Eclipse effect firing”. I somehow read that I couldn’t fire a new Eclipse until 15 seconds of the previous eclipse ending…

opinions on switching to BM

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

k thx. I too have always been full MM and will prob see what bm is like. I chainheal the pet with pally to take down the elites since it always has taunt so bm might be a better option After the Patch I specced BM for first time ever as a 60 raider.
64 now and still lovin’ it. Its a great spec for soloing and grouping. Provides a nice offtank and FI is great for group DPS, procs all the time for me.
I still like MM and do miss it, but for now I’m sold on BM…for now…What would more beneficial combo now after patch boxing with a 61 pally..
a full spec BM or staying full spec marksman?
My bear has 5khp and 7k armor and with no points in BM still maintains full aggro hot damn! I knew that Booty and Gadgetzan were neutral but I’ve always thought the Ratsh?t was a horde town ‘cos I get the “Rachet is under attack” local/world defense messages. thanks for dispelling my ignoranceGoblin towns (Rachet, Everlook, Bootbay, and Gadgetzan) are neutral towns. Any hostility towards a member of the opposite faction gets the guards sic’d on you.-Striveldt
FFXI: DRK 55, WAR 30, THF 27, DRG 27 (all retired)
WoW: Hunter 70, Warrior 29, Druid 26, Warlock 22, Shaman 19 (all retired)
EQII: Shadowknight 36 (retired)
Back into FFXI while waiting for FFXIVI recently attacked an alliance fool in Rachet and ended up being killed by a gobbo guard.
The alli was attacking a bruiser when I sent my owl in screeching its lungs out, once the human died the guard turned on me! Did screech cause the bruiser to go hostile?
My hunter is friendly with Rachet.

Cooking?

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

I’m in same boat currently. If you are Horde, though, there’s a quest in Mok’Nathal Village in Blade’s Edge that rewards two recipes (Mok’Nathal Shortribs and Crunchy Serpent) that are skill 335 vs 325 for most of your now-grey recipes. So they will hopefully be green to you.
The crawdads are going to be difficult to catch until you are both 1) level 70 with a flying mount and 2) skill level 430 (with lures, etc) in fishing.

Strength, Aguility, Stamina,

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Here are some facts about attributes (stats) for level 60 Hunters:
+1 stamina = +10 health
+1 intellect = +15 mana
+1 agility = +1 attack power (ranged and melee) = +0.07 DPS (ranged and melee)
+1 agility = +0.03 critical hit chance (ranged and melee)
+1 agility = +0.05 dodge chance
+1 agility = +2 armor value
+1 strength = +1 attack power (melee) = +0.07 DPS (melee)
+1 spirit = +0.2 mana points every 5 seconds
+1 spirit = +0.25 health points every 5 seconds
Clearly agility is better than strength since agility gives both melee and ranged damage increase, plus it gives increased critical hit chance and increased dodge chance as well as increased armor.
Your mana regeneration kicks in if you haven’t used any mana-consuming abilities for 5 seconds. Your health regeneration kicks in when you leave combat.-We’re the descendants, salute the descendants, of King Canute.
- Nephew
Mazrah – Troll ShamanUsually I would say read the sticky, but I’m in the mood for it, so please aim for:
1) agility, attack power, crit rating
2) intellect
3) stamina
The best items have a combination of the stats above on it.
strength is totally useless
wisdom is also rather useless, but not so much as strength is
EDIT: The armor of an item is also not very important. Usually your pet will get hit, so having a little less armor does not change things very much. However your pet gets around 20 of your armor added on its own armor, so when you can wear mail, don’t equip very much leather armor (however a few leather items won’t make a big difference).

Hi,
What should a hunter aim for when equipping new things (besides the armor). Should he be going for a lot of stamina, intellect, …. Or a little of all ?

I mean if it just showed like the Pet Stable window, and you mouse over the pet, it tells you it’s info or something.
Don’t know if there already is something like that, if there is let me know cause I have yet to find it.-Wheels

Red Wings: 25 – 19 – 9Hey, I haven’t seen this anywhere, and it may be a newb type comment, but you can dismiss your pet without losing happiness and without flying somewhere by just telling it to stay and running away. once you’re far enough it dismisses and you don’t lose happiness points. i found it helpful.
