Race Shouldn’t matter

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

There is no best race, and certainly no worst race. It is entirely up to you and what you want to stare at for hours on end. The only gripe I have with Taurens is their size. Making them slightly in the way when you are dealing with multiple melee targets (bad pull) or similar situations. But that is a matter of personal preference.
Racials don’t matter that much, as all of them has their uses. The Troll Berzerker ability (I think that was what it was called) might add that little critical amount of DPS at times. Situational at best. Orcs got their nice +pet damage, but it isn’t enough to make them that much better either. Stun resist… well, sure, for PvP it isn’t bad. But to me, it actually seems like Tauren has the best Hunter ability. War Stomp. Another tool for you to get back to range when everything else failed.
All good racials. All good Hunter races. All up to you. -Friar Bijou wrote:ITT: NorthAI is a L?rd Kaolian wrote:We get some batsht insane people here on occasion.I think Tauren would be a good choice for a hunter. War Stomp could get you out of a tight

Kara Strat question

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Running OOM seems to be a gear issue, though a couple thoughts:
Have the shaman respec resto and help take off some of the healing burden. Add in that they can use the big mana regen totem now, and that may help.
Otherwise, just have everyone work on their gear, as your DPS or healers’ regen rates seem lacking.-

Which one goes deeper?
Ok my kara group is able to consistantly beat the first boss.. we have no trouble getting to and dispatching the first boss.. for the most part its cutt and dry.
Then we for the most part have no trouble getting to moros.
Problem is killing moros..
Our typical strategy is to cc 3 of the mobs.. normally the ms warrior, ret pally, and anything else.
and to burn down the shadow mage. or any kind of caster.
we usually use 2 hunters for ccing the ms warrior and another mob..
Problem usually is that when we kill the first add.. and then move onto moros .. the strain on the group becomes to much at about moros’s 40 health mark and we run outa mana and whipe.
or we have a missed heal or cc and whipe.
anyone got any tips on how we can better beat moros.
Our gruop composition is usually like this
1 warrior (tank)
1 druid (tank)
2 hunters (cc/dps)
1 mage(cc)
1 preist (heals/shackle)
1 palidin (heals)
1 warlock (dps)
1 rouge (dps)
1 shamen (dps)
we seem to do ok on mobs and the first boss like i said.. but we just keep on dying on moros.
and also we have not yet defeated maiden yet either.

The difference between a hunter and a good hunter!

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

A good hunter uses feign death BEFORE he pulls aggro off the tank.
Why?
Because in order to pull aggro off our tank you have to do 130 of his threat. A lot of range dps classes ride threat past 100 to increase damage done. You pull and FD it ain’t going back to the tank unless his taunt is ready, it is going to the next dps class with the highest threat. Which means you have a mob who is ping pong~ing around killing squishies and you just made things 10x harder for your tank and healer.
A simple FD when you are at 100 threat, or just when you get a couple lucky crits off will reset your aggro and allow you to go balls to the walls on dps without evening having to worry about threat.
One of the biggest mistakes I see Hunters who are fresh to lvl 70 make. With misdirect and proper feign death tactics you should be able to have Blessing of Might on you and go literally through the roof with damage and never even worry about aggro. -Bhodisattva Holy Paladin Trainee
Fockler Hunter is starting to sound like Knight Online. Okay, it’s not that bad, but still…
(For those who don’t know, KO is a free imitation of wow – worth every penny :/, only some of the tooltips are horribly wrong…i.e. Fireball may have the tooltip “Teleports the caster to the nearest city”).

Don’t worry – I’m smarter than you.Perhaps they just didn’t put it in the patch notes. They do that sometimes. I’ll take a look at them again though just to see.-Kul Tiras Server

I looked all through the notes twice and I don’t see this addressed. I am actually surprised at this as I had understood it to be on teast a while ago. Anyone else see anything about it that maybe I just missed?
I can’t really say it hurts my feelings for them to leave it. I love the extra damage that little guy does with it!-Caldone: “KDenelor is not dumb” – Quite possibly the nicest thing ever said about me…

Are Ravagers any good as pets?

Monday, March 8th, 2010

heh I was thinking of posting something similar to this this afternoon.
Ravagers seem to have replaced Scorpids after the nerf to scorpid poison.
You used to be able to get 600 odd damage every second after the poison stacked 5 times…-Level 70 Hunter – Khaz’goroth (Main)

RogueRavager is the only pet i will ever really use. Its small so as not to get in the tanks way. It has small ammounts of animation.. so it does not distract the tank like for example a bird would..
Also its a great dps pet and looks awsome to boot.
some do say that its overused.. but no more overused than cats.

Myspace Accounts

Eleberth is one of the old posters of this forum. Besides Azuarc and myself, I don’t think there’s many left of us. Sayis hasn’t been seen for ages, and Azurea who used to post here is rarely seen.
And yes, Skribs, you were one of those smacktards who couldn’t just leave those poems be, and even made a thread entirely devoted to whining about it. I still downrate those whines whenever I take a stroll down memory lane (reading old posts). -Friar Bijou wrote:ITT: NorthAI is a L?rd Kaolian wrote:We get some batsht insane people here on occasion.Isn’t eleberth the person who kept getting flamed for writing poetry here a while back?-comma long-slash comma comma asterick underscore asterick comma comma long-slash commaI personally despise Myspace, Facebook and all those sites. Go Fck I know this isn’t hunter related, but I just wanted to see what you all thought of myspace layout…

Thinking or respecing survival.

Friday, March 5th, 2010

The only question is, would you be the only SV hunter in the guild (or at least the best geared one)?
If the answer is yes, go for it. Sure, you’ll have to swap a lot of gems and enchants to stack agi (and say goodbye to your chest), but it’ll be worth it.
Just be aware that even SV hunters get resisted sometimes. True, it’s nowhere near as often, and we can usually recover quicker, but it’s even MORE irritating when it happens.
It makes enchant choices a lot easier too. Do I want agi? Or agi? :D
On gloves, agility is always better imo.
15 agi = 15 AP and 0.375 crit ve 26 AP.
And yes, you will have to replace your ebon netherscale chest.
Best guess is probably by the chest from BM.- God Emperor of Hunters and Priest Forum Mean Person.

For a few reasons.
At this point as a marksman/sv hunter i feel my dps is ok but i feel that in places like kara and heroic instances my traps are getting resisted far to much.
I know i want to go survival my question is do i have the gear for it.
I have the gear that im currently wearing also i have pieces of gear like the stalkers warbands, hanguards of the steady, and a few others that i can swap in and out.
The main worry i have is that if i do go survival will i have to replace my ebon netherscale breastplate. i already want to replace the other 2 pieces of the ebon netherscale set.
of course i would be completly regemming my entire gearset. and also re enchanting my sonic spear from savagry to agility and my gloves from assault to agility.
well lemme know what you think.

Gun/Bow Enchant Question: +12 Dmg? or +2 Crit?

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

…and is the Stabilitzed Eternium Scope really 2?
I’m in an arena team and I BG, and I’m planning on getting my S1 Gun from honor pts (b/c I’ll never reach 1850(!))
so my questions are:
(A) is that a gun you guys think it’s worth it to blow the $$ for a StabEterScope?
&
(B) is that even the better scope for a MM hunter w/ that gun?
I mean, I’m thinking burst is good to mess w/ healers etc.. but the +12 Dmg is pretty good dps, but after turning on Aspect of Hawk & Trueshot Aura, I’m at ~2000 AP, so I’m not so bad, but my crit is already at like, 25 already too….
…so what’s the better scope?
Thanks very much!It fully depends on what you are doing and a little on which pet you use , if you are doing instances then the right resistance when boosted will help your pet to survive , I know several hunters that respec their pets depending on where they are going as it is a cheap thing to do unlike hunters talents.
On my main at 70 i rarely use all the training points anyway , so when i do go in an instance i can easily boost my pet depending on where i go and what my pet gets attacked by.
I am guessing there are as many different ideas on pet training as there are for the best talents for the hunter , so i hope others will give their views on this..-My mage
my hunter
My hunter is not the best at damage but at least i survive.Im thinking of respecing my pet but if i do should i put more points in armor stam and attacks or should i use the resistances?

So pet lions roar now?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Morris has ‘growled’ while yawing for a while now. I keep asking him if he’s that tired or bored, he should go pick on some gnome, take a catnap or something. Stop yawning, it makes ME tired.
If you have a saber mount, it will ‘roar’ when you tap the spacebar while sitting still, unless that changed in 2.4… haven’t tested it yet
Ruling Warlord of the Space Monkey Empire
Hunter: Thalika & Morris the Cat (owner of aforementioned Hunter) Hmmm, I wonder if any of the other pets got upgraded sound effects as well? goes off to check Petopia
And yeah, the roar is totally different from the ones that the Wintersaber tigers use. Aha. I was looking up something to back up something I was gonna say, and I found this:
Quote:And starting with patch 2.3, cats who use the lion model also roar when they stretch, although their roar is rather different.
From Petopia.
I have the rare wintersaber model and it makes a creepy yawning noise, although I have grown used to it. Today, out of boredom, I was playing my lowbie Blood Elf hunter alt.
I was outside of Rachet, and figured what the hell, I’m going to tame her a pet lion. I tamed kitty, hearthed home, and then went about Silvermoon, and was smelting some ore when…my male lion did his yawning idle animation…and when he opened his mouth, he actually ROARED.
Everytime he idles, yawns, and opens his mouth, he roars now. I thought it was totally neat (I’ve tamed lions before, they never roared before).
Sadly enough, my Springpaw Cub doesn’t roar though.
The lion I tamed was a Savannah Prowler, if I remember correctly, if anyone else wants to test it out.
